At a Dec. 13 Texas Medical Center Library reception attended by more than 100 guests and  honoring Kathrine McGovern, fourth from left, and the McGovern Foundation for the support they’ve given the library, the Texas Medical Center and Houston over the years are, from left: Texas Medical Center President Robert Robbins, M.D.; Giuseppe Colasurdo, M.D., president of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and dean of UTHealth’s Medical School; Bryant Boutwell, Dr.P.H., John P. McGovern, M.D. Professor of Oslerian Medicine at UTHealth Medical School;  L. Maximilian Buja, M.D.,  executive director of the library and professor of pathology and laboratory medicine at UTHealth; and William Butler, M.D., chancellor emeritus at Baylor College of Medicine. The library is home to the John P. McGovern Historical Research Center where the history of the Texas Medical Center is preserved, along with Dr. John P. McGovern’s personal library of rare books and personal papers which form the core of the collections.
