Trevisio Restaurant and Conference Center begins major renovation this month

Trevisio Restaurant & Conference Center, located in the heart of the Texas Medical Center, is slated to begin a major renovation this month, scheduled for re-opening in October. The final a la carte meal service was on Thursday, May 19.

The restaurant will remain open for private events through the end of the month, and will be available for off-site catering during the renovation, for events as small as 10 to large functions for 500 and more.

After close to 15 years of business, serving thousands of people each week between restaurant dining and private events in the conference center, the facility has had a lot of “wear and tear” and they felt it was time to give the space a fresh new look. The space is a special one for dining and entertaining, from business functions to weddings and other special celebrations, and the renovations will enhance, not take away from, its uniqueness.

Trevisio opened in October 2002, the first restaurant of its kind to emerge in the famed Texas Medical Center. The location is convenient for those who work, visit and live near the medical center, Houston Museum District, Southampton, Montrose and surrounding areas. Perched atop the stunning John P. McGovern Commons in the heart of the Texas Medical Center, above two dramatic, 64-foot exterior waterfalls, the restaurant affords diners one-of-a kind views and dining atmosphere.

The space will keep the same general footprint, including the crescent-shaped floor plan, but interior changes will begin at the elevator lobby, with the new color palette of beige-veined marble walls and floors, warm wood accents and modern chrome fixtures. The walkway from the lobby will have a library feel with floor-to-ceiling shelving, and will lead to an open reception area that includes a new oval bar.

The dining room will be in hues of warm browns and cool blues with modern lighting, comfortable seating and will include two private dining areas and a new wine display. The magnificent panoramic views of the Texas Medical Center skyline, accentuated by the current floor-to-ceiling windows in space, will now be visible not only from the dining tables but from the new, open bar design.

There will be two meeting room spaces that can be set for functions of all sizes and descriptions, from business meetings and luncheons to bar and bat mitzvahs, anniversaries and weddings.

Trevisio will be booking its private party rooms for future events, including weddings and holiday parties, during the renovation. To book a party or for off-site catering, contact the catering department at 713-749-0406 and 713-749-0407.

Trevisio is owned by the Texas Medical Center and operated by restaurateurs Tracy Vaught of H Town Restaurant Group and John Watt of Prego.
