26th annual Preventive Cardiology Forum

“How to Control Cardiovascular Risk Factors to Improve Survival” will be the theme of the 26th annual Preventive Cardiology Forum of McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of mortality and morbidity in the world. Seven experts will present information and lead discussions on new knowledge and strategies to improve survival for patients with cardiovascular disease. The event is free and aimed at healthcare professionals

Francisco Fuentes, M.D., program director and holder of the Theodore R. and Maureen O’Driscoll Levy Endowed Professorship in Cardiology Research at McGovern Medical School, will lead a panel discussion.

UTHealth speakers include L. Maximilian Buja, M.D., professor of pathology and laboratory medicine and executive director of the Houston Academy of Medicine-Texas Medical Center Library; Charles Miller, Ph.D., professor and associate dean for Hospital Quality Initiatives in cardiothoracic vascular surgery; Salman Arain, M.D., assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiology; Jennifer Swails, M.D., assistant professor of medicine and senior associate program director of the internal medicine residency program; Susan Laing, M.D., M.Sc., John Edward Tyson Distinguished Professorship in Cardiology and director of echocardiography at McGovern Medical School and Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center; and Jennifer Sanner, Ph.D., R.N., assistant professor in the Department of Nursing Centers, UTHealth School of Nursing.
