Houston Radiological Society- Breast Imaging Update

Goal

The goal of the Houston Radiological Society Breast Imaging Update is to provide new information on clinical breast imaging, including: mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and newer techniques including molecular breast imaging and tomosynthesis. The activity, planned in joint providership with the Houston Radiological Society, is designed to improve performance in breast imaging. Expected outcomes include appropriate utilization, accurate diagnoses, and efficient procedures.

Educational Objectives

After attending the conference, participants should be able to
Interpret screening mammography studies, including mortality reduction (Knowledge, Competence, Performance);
Interpret breast MRI and ultrasound examinations (Knowledge, Competence);
Discuss breast cancer diagnoses with patients in a way that is patient-focused and constructive (Knowledge, Competence, Performance, Patient Outcomes);
Interpret tomosynthesis studies and appreciate its benefits to patients (Knowledge, Competence, Performance);
Perform radioactive seed localizations (Knowledge, Competence, Performance).

This conference will be beneficial to radiologists, mammography technologists, and sonographers.

Evaluation

A course evaluation form will provide participants with the opportunity to comment on the value of the program content to their practice decisions, performance improvement activities, or possible impact on patient health status. Participants will also have the opportunity to comment on any perceived commercial bias in the presentations as well as to identify future educational topics.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and the Houston Radiological Society.
