1 Minute Read

Houston-area entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to make their investment pitches at an open casting call at Rice University hosted by the popular ABC-TV reality show “Shark Tank.”

Business owners chosen for “Shark Tank” get to pitch their companies or products to a panel of multimillionaire and billionaire tycoons, including Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. The show is currently on season six.

An open call to try out for the program begins at 10 a.m. May 30 at McNair Hall, home of the university’s Jones Graduate School of Business, with interviews starting at 11. Pitches are limited to one minute. Only the first 500 applicants are guaranteed to be seen.

A private casting call for Rice Business Plan Competition teams and Rice students, alumni and employees will precede the open audition, beginning at 8 a.m.

“Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business delivers a top-ranked graduate entrepreneurship program and supports the world’s largest and richest graduate business plan competition through the Rice Alliance,” said Bill Glick, dean of the Jones School and the H. Joe Nelson III Professor of Management. “Hosing the casting call expands our ability to stimulate entrepreneurship locally with global impact. This is the heart of Jesse Jones’ legacy.”
