Natalie Artzi, Ph.D.: Understanding Complex Biological Environments Drives Multifunctional Materials Design for Cancer Therapy

Personalized medicine was applied mostly to the design and administration of pharmaceuticals. The same paradigm should be applied to biomaterial design and administration. Advances in materials science now allow for substantially more sophisticated tuning of biomaterial properties than previously imagined. Smart and tissue responsive multifunctional materials are designed for sensing, repairing, treating, targeting and strengthening.

Personalized materials will reduce product failures in (pre)clinical testing and usher in a new chapter in precision medicine. Dr. Artzi will discuss the applications of personalized medicine in biomaterial design for cancer therapy.
