Free oral, head and neck cancer screenings

The Department of Otorhinolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Medical School will offer free oral, head and neck cancer screenings on Friday, April 17, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the 27th Floor of the Memorial Hermann Medical Plaza, 6400 Fannin Street, in the Texas Medical Center.

The screenings, which are painless and only take about 10 minutes, are being offered in observance of Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week.
Oral, head and neck cancers claim approximately 13,000 lives per year.

However, there is hope; if diagnosed early, these cancers can be more easily treated without significant complications, and the chances of survival greatly increase.
