Poverty Summit

Hospital social workers and chaplains helping patients who struggle financially and with other issues, may be interested in attending the 2015 Know Poverty Summit. Underwritten by CHI St. Luke’s Health and hosted by Catholic Charities, the summit will be held January 29, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the University of St. Thomas.

The event will feature keynote speaker Stephen Klineberg, Ph.D., of Rice University, who has tracked remarkable changes over the last three decades in the demographic patterns, economic outlooks, experiences, and beliefs of Harris County residents.

CHI St. Luke’s Health Vice President of Mission Sister Susan Evelyn and Director of Healthy Communities Tamara Bourda are also scheduled to present. Summit participants will brainstorm for solutions in breakout sessions and possible collaborations in combating poverty in the community.
