5th Annual Texas Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Conference

Adolescents and young adults (AYAs) diagnosed with cancer between the ages of 15 and 39 years have unique medical and psychosocial needs. The types of cancer commonly diagnosed in this age group are different than those in younger children and older adults and the biology of these cancers is distinct as well. Human papilloma virus (HPV) is associated with several cancers that occur in the AYA age group and will be a focus of this conference. Psychosocial issues such as adherence to therapy and transition to survivorship care will be addressed as well.
