13th Annual Rockets Run Raises Thousands for Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital

1 Minute Read

This year’s Annual Rockets Run, which took place last Sunday morning, enjoyed the best attendance yet in the event’s multi-year history. More than 3,800 people came out to partake in one of three main events – the 5K run, the 2-mile walk and the kids’ 1K fun run. Each race took participants through the streets of Midtown and finished on the Houston Rockets’ own center court in Toyota Center.

The Rockets Run, now in its 13th consecutive year, was presented by Memorial Hermann Health Insurance Company and benefitted Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital. The event was a huge success, raising more than $10,000 for the hospital. Clutch the Rockets Bear, the popular mascot for the Houston Rockets, was there to kick off the festivities.

Immediately following the event, participants enjoyed a post-race party with food, drinks and games and an awards ceremony which recognized the top overall male and female runners of the 5K race, as well as the top three male and top three females in 13 different age group categories.

The Annual Rockets Run is part of the decade-long partnership between Memorial Hermann Health System and the Houston Rockets. Together, the organizations work to promote community fitness and advance health for the city of Houston.
