Houston Methodist hosts first Kostas Center international meeting

Experts with an interest in cardiovascular nanomedicine convened at the Houston Methodist Research Institute Oct. 9 and 10 for the inaugural George and Angelina Kostas Research Center for Cardiovascular Nanomedicine International Meeting.

Participants included HMRI President and CEO Mauro Ferrari, Ph.D. (front row, far left), Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center Medical Director Alan Lumsden, M.D., as well as presenting scientists John Cooke, M.D., PhD. (back row, far left) and Tony Hu, Ph.D. (front row, far right) and dozens of others. The annual meeting is funded through a gift from the George J. and Angelina P. Kostas Charitable Foundation. George Kostas (front row, fourth from left) attended the conference, joined by three of his daughters (flanking him to left and right).

The Kostas family donated a very generous gift to Houston Methodist toward funding high-impact solutions for cardiovascular diseases. This gift supports and fosters research collaborations in cardiovascular nanomedicine, in part, through this international meeting to be held each year.
