Meet the Author – Lin Weeks Wilder – Book Reading & Signing at the TMC Library

1 Minute Read

Everyone is invited to hear the author talk about her new book, munch light refreshments and catch a good read while trying to figure out upon whom the characters are based.

Lin Weeks Wilder is the author of the newly published (April 2014) – The Fragrance Shed by a Violet, a medical mystery set among the major teaching and research institutions of the TMC and their affiliated hospitals. After reading the book, it was easy to surmise two of the institutions alluded to, but only Lin knows for sure.

Lin worked in the Texas Medical Center for almost 25 years as Lin Weeks, first at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, then Ben Taub, with the last 18 years as VP of Operations at Memorial Hermann and Chair of the Institutional Ethics Committee. While she was Chair of the Ethics Committee, she was featured in Lisa Belkin’s documental book, First Do No Harm.

She received her doctorate from the UTHealth School of Public Health in 1995, and shortly thereafter left Memorial Hermann and the TMC for Worcester, MA, to become Hospital Director for the UMass Memorial Medical Center.

Since 1998 she has been an author, entrepreneur, and blogger and currently lives in the high desert country in Nevada with her husband, where she writes full time including a blog at www.linwilder.com.

Lin may be remembered by many of her colleagues, who continue to work in the Medical Center, and can vouch for the accuracy of her research. Hope to see you all there!
